Worthy Grand Matron Theme 2011 - 2012

Our Worthy Grand Matron, Sister Gloria Chaney, and Worthy Grand Patron, Brother Jim Williams, have chosen the following items for the 2011-2012 Grand Chapter Year

Worthy Grand Matron Clipart can be found - here

Worthy Matron's and Worthy Patron's Objectives can be found - here

Membership Objectives can be found - here

Symbol:

Shoe and Mirror

The Symbol for 2012 will be a "Shoe with a heart"

It is my sincere hope that it will remind us to always put our best foot forward as we step out into our homes, our Chapter rooms, our communities and our world, but always remember to let our HEART lead us in the right direction.

I am adding the CHEVAL MIRROR representing Reflection and Character.  Before we judge someone else we should first take a good look at what we see in the mirror.  Character is how you act when no one else is watching.

Emblems:

HOME: No matter how far away we may roam, we always return to our Home.  This is where our heart really is, where memories are made and our loved ones are always ready to welcome us back.  To honor my John, our Sons, Kevin and jody, our Daughter-In-Laws, Jody Ann and Karen and our Grandchildren Krysten, Tyson, Jake, Tanner, Johnna, Tucker and Jennie Mae and Step Granddaughter, Megan.  And to honor the memory of our Son, Brother David J. Chaney.

APRON: Reminds us of our Mothers and Grandmothers and all the good values they taught us when we were young.  The best memories are made around the Kitchen table.  Mom put on her Apron and worked all afternoon to prepare a good family meal (supper at our house) and we all sat down together and said Grace and then ate while everyone talked about their day.  Mom always kept her Apron on until after the dishes were done.  She had work Aprons for all week and then "Sunday Aprons".  These were always washed, hung on the line to dry, starched and ironed.

Apple TreeAPPLE TREE: Have you ever heard that old saying "The Apple doesn't fall far from the tree"?  How True.  Each of us have Masonic Heritage in order to belong to this Beautiful Order.  So the old saying is true.  Dedicated to the Members of Ivy Leaf Chapter #215 and the 12th District, home of our Worthy Grand Patron.

CHILDRENS BOOKS:  Special ones are "Heidi" and "The Box Car Children".  To honor Sister Carol Williams, wife of Brother Jim, who taught school for 28 years and read a story to her students every day.  She also read to her Grandchildren.  Her fondest memories are of her Dear Mother reading to her, her Sister and Brothers from "Box Car Children".

TEAPOT: Taking tea with friends is one of the purest pleasures in life.  Whether you are sipping from an heirloom cup or drinking from a travel mug, it's good fun when friends get together.  Whether wearing hat and gloves or simply sitting barefoot on an old back porch at home, nothing nourishes a friendship like an hour of soft conversation and yet another round of tea.  In those magical moments, time stands still - long enough for friends to listen with the Heart, whisper kind words and to revive one another's soul.  In doing so, the world witnesses the miracle of Friendship.  To honor each of you - Our Sisters and Brothers in the Grand Jurisdiction of Missouri.

PURSE: With every pair of shoes, we need a purse.  This is where most of us place our daily valuables...pictures of our spouse, children or grandchildren, keys to house or car, wallet, checkbook, tickets, for trips or cruises.  Lots of things that are important.  This reminds me of our Heart and Mind where we keep things that are also important: memories of our first love, first kiss, our wedding, our children when they were born and when they were young, memories of those who have gone on before us and also memories of how our Order used to be.  Whether locked up in your Purse or in your Heart and mind, those Treasures are very important.  Keep them with you at all times.

Fun Emblems:

Worthy Grand Matron - Dragonfly

(We called them "Snake Doctors" when I was a kid).  The beautiful, iridescent Dragonfly, flies only for a fraction of its life and usually not more than a few months.

This style of life symbolizes and exemplifies the virtue of living "IN" the moment and living life to the fullest.

By living "IN" the moment, ou are always aware of who you are, where you are, what you are doing, what you want, what you don't and make informed choices on a moment to moment basis.  This ability lets you live your life without regrets.

Worthy Grand Patron - Old Pickup Truck and Barn

Truck with BarnSome of Jim's best treasures are his Barn and 1947 Ford Pickup (tat truck is older than the Worthy Grand Matron)

If you have ever had an "Old Pickup Truck", you know how much fun they can be.  The "Old Truck" is a lot like life.  You can look in the rearview mirror and see how far we have come.  For the "Truck" it has traveled from a farm implement to an air conditioned office with power everything.  We can look down the road and with a little guidance arrive at where we shoud be.  In it's day, the "Old Barn" was a symbol of success for the farmer and a joyful place to explore for childeren who dared to adventure.  It became the home for the "Old Truck" when the horse drawn buggy had seen it's day.

This year remember......We are in this for the long haul, so buckle up, drive safely and "Keep On Truckin"!!!!!!!

This is dedicated to Brother Jim's family: Son Jim and wife Jackie, Sone Jeff and wife Jennifer and Grandchildren, Andrew, Joe, Nick, Caroline and Mason.

SCRIPTURES:

Worthy Grand Matron:

PSALM 23:1-6 The Lord is my Shepard; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters.  He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name sake.  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.  Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou annointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and i will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

PROVERBS 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

Worthy Grand Patron:

Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

PROVERBS 25:11 A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in silver settings.

GALATIANS 5:22-23: The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  Against such things there is no law.

LAMENTATIONS: 3:21 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

MATTHEW 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

JAMES 1:6 Ask in faith, never doubting.
